Fabio Avolio carried out his musical studies at Santa Cecilia Music Academy in Rome. He later obtained a diploma in Choral Music and Chorus Direction, also studying Organ and Composition.

In 1990 he started working for the Vatican as vice-director of the Chapter’s Music Chapel in St.Peter’s Cathedral and now performs as an organist in the religious ceremonies held daily in the Cathedral. Fabio Avolio is the director of “Gruppo vocale OCTOinCHORO”, made up of professional singers, as well as the "Piccolo Coro di Voci Bianche di Roma", a children’s choir, and is now the artistic director of “Coro dell'Aventino”.

He has directed a large number of concerts with all three choral groups. First Academic for Music at the Accademia Romana delle Arti, Fabio Avolio has for some years been artistic director of  Festival di Natale and Festival Permanente di Musica Sacra, two events that have become part of Rome's cultural traditions.
