Rome - 9:00/12:30 AM

Arrival of the choirs: each choir will be assigned a hall where they can rehearse their own repertoire.
Performance of 2 pieces from their repertoire in front of a committee composed of qualified teachers from the main choral and musical institutions of Rome

01:00/01:45 PM Lunch

02:00/04:30 PM: Each choir meets the committee to receive feedback on the singers' performance and vocal technique and any other useful advice.

04:30 PM: Each choir moves towards the church where the concert takes place.

07:00/07:45 PM Dinner

08:00 PM: Acoustics is tested in the churches where the concerts are held.

08:45/10:00 PM: Concerts of sacred music take place for a large audience in some of the most beautiful churches of Rome.

Rome - 09:15/12:30 AM

Rehearsal of polyphonic pieces, common to all the choirs, which will be performed during the Holy Mass in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

01:00/01:45 PM: Lunch

02:00/02:45 PM: Preparation for the Holy Mass in St. Peter's.

03:00 PM: Departure for the Vatican.

03:40 PM: Access to the Vatican through the metal detector.

04:15 PM: Placement in St. Peter's Basilica and rehearsal for the Holy Mass.

05:00 PM: Holy Mass in St. Peter’s with pieces sung by all singers.

07:30/07:45 PM: Dinner.

Free time.

 

Wednesday, June 20, 2018

Vatican - 8:30/12:00 AM

Choirs attend the General Audience with the Holy Father in the Vatican.

12:30/01:15 PM: Lunch.

02:00/03:30 PM (optional): Workshop with Fabio Avolio on "Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and his Schola Romana". Study of one of Palestrina's motets (scores will be sent upon confirmation of the booking) with special emphasis on the influence of Palestrina's time on his music and his unique style. Singers wishing to participate in the workshop are kindly requested to book their place when registering for the Festival. Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.

Free time.

07:30/08:15 PM: Acoustics is tested before the concert.

08:45/10:00 PM: Final concert in a prestigious Basilica in Rome. Each choir will perform pieces from its repertoire and will be presented with a memorial plaque at the end of the concert.

All choral events will be video-recorded and included in a DVD, wich coir can ourchase and receive at home.
