Wednesday, June 19, 2019 (optional)

Choirs wishing to attend the general audience of the Pope at the Vatican, must give communication to ROMAinCANTO. The association will provide the request for tickets for the participants of the Festival. Participants will be admitted to the audience at 8:30AM.

 

Thursday, June 20, 2019

10:00AM/12:00AM in the place of the Festival: arrival of the choirs; each choir will be assigned a hall where they can rehearse their own repertoire.

12:15AM/01:15PM: lunch.

01:30PM/03:00PM: workshop on “Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and his Schola Romana”. Study of one of Palestrina's motets (scores will be sent upon confirmation of the booking) with special emphasis on the influence of Palestrina's time on his music, and his unique style. Singers wishing to participate in the workshop are kindly requested to book their place when registering for the Festival.

03:30PM: each choir moves to the church where the concert takes place. Visit of Rome.

07:00PM/07:45PM: dinner.

08:00PM: acoustics is tested in the churches where the concerts are held.

08:45PM/10:00PM: concerts of sacred music take place for a large audience in some of the most beautiful churches of Rome.

 

Friday, June 21, 2019

10:00AM/12:00AM in the place of the Festival: rehearsal of polyphonic pieces which will be performed during the Holy Mass in St. Peter's Basilica in the Vatican.

12:15AM/01:15PM: lunch.

01:30PM/02:45PM: workshop. Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance.

03:00PM: departure for the Vatican.

03:40PM: access to the Vatican through the metal detector.

04:15PM: placement in St. Peter's Basilica and rehearsal for the Holy Mass.

05:00PM: Holy Mass in St. Peter’s, with pieces sung by all singers.

06:45PM/07:45PM: dinner.

08:00 PM: acoustics is tested in the churches where the concerts are held.

08:45PM/10:00PM: concerts of sacred music take place for a large audience in some of the most beautiful churches of Rome.

 

Saturday, June 22, 2019

10:00AM/12:00AM in the place of the Festival: choir rehearsals.

12:15AM/01:15PM: lunch.

01:30PM/02:15PM: performance of each choir in front of a committee composed of qualified teachers from the main choral and musical institutions of Rome.

02:15PM/03:15PM: each choir meets with the committee to receive feedback on the singers' performance and vocal technique, and any other useful advice.

03:30PM: each choir moves to the church where the concert takes place. Visit of Rome.

06:45PM/07:45PM: dinner.

08:00PM/08:30 PM: acoustics is tested before the concert.

08:45PM/10:00PM: final concert in a prestigious Basilica in Rome. Each choir will perform pieces from its repertoire, and will be presented with a memorial plaque at the end of the concert.

The choral events will be video-recorded and, a DVD will be sent, upon request, after the Festival to the choir as a memory of the performance.
